On your arrival in Guwahati, the capital city of Assam, you will be greeted by our representative and transferred to your hotel for check-in. After settling in, embark on a sightseeing tour of Guwahati, visiting the famous Kamakhya Temple, a prominent Hindu pilgrimage site dedicated to Goddess Kamakhya. Next, head to Umananda Temple, located on an island in the Brahmaputra River, where you can enjoy a peaceful boat ride. Spend your evening exploring the local markets, known for Assamese handicrafts and tea.
After a hearty breakfast, begin your journey towards Kaziranga National Park, one of India’s most famous wildlife sanctuaries, located about 4-5 hours away from Guwahati. Upon arrival, check in to your resort, and relax amidst the lush greenery of the region. Kaziranga is known for its population of one-horned rhinoceroses, and the surrounding landscape is ideal for wildlife enthusiasts and nature lovers. Enjoy a leisurely evening in the tranquil surroundings of your resort.
Start your day early with an Elephant Safari in the morning, which is the best way to spot wild animals up close, including the famous one-horned rhinos, wild boars, and various bird species. Afterward, head back to your resort for breakfast. In the afternoon, embark on a Jeep Safari, where you can explore the vast grasslands and dense jungles of Kaziranga, spotting tigers, elephants, deer, and an array of birds. The park offers some of the best opportunities to witness wildlife in its natural habitat.
Post breakfast, leave for Jorhat, a city known for its tea gardens and rich cultural heritage. After arriving, take a trip to Majuli Island, the world’s largest river island, located on the Brahmaputra River. The island is known for its unique monasteries, or “Satras,” where you can learn about the Vaishnavism religion, the vibrant culture of Assam, and interact with local communities. Visit the Shiva Dol, a 12th-century temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, and enjoy the serene beauty of this unique island.
Today, head towards Sivasagar, a historic town known for its Assamese culture and architecture. Sivasagar is home to the Ahom kings, and you’ll explore the remains of their royal palaces, temples, and monuments. Visit the Sivasagar Lake, a large man-made water body that holds historical significance, and the Talatal Ghar, a palace with underground tunnels. You will also visit the Rang Ghar, an amphitheater where royal sports were once held. The blend of history, culture, and natural beauty will leave you mesmerized.
On your last day, you will return to Guwahati and explore some more of the city’s attractions, such as the Assam State Museum, which provides a deep insight into the cultural and historical heritage of Assam. You can also take a stroll along the Brahmaputra River for a peaceful boat ride. Afterward, you will be transferred to the airport for your onward journey.
