Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary

Situated in the northern part of Dooars, the Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary is one of the largest wildlife reserves in this region. The village also consists of the ancient Dalim Fort which was built by the king of the Lepcha community on top of the hill that offers a panoramic view of the hills followed by Chel River.

Buxa Tiger Reserve

Best Time to Visit

October to February of winter is considered to be the best time to visit and explore the natural beauty of Dooars. During winter, Doors welcomes a range of migratory birds making it an ideal time for bird lovers. However, it is advised to avoid travelling to Dooars during monsoon as heavy rainfall can lead to road closures and low visibility increasing the risk of accidents.
